POSITION
Summary:
This position performs highly responsible technical work pertaining to the planning, analysis, design, operation, maintenance, security, and support of the City of Bellaire's technology infrastructure.
This position will be open until filled and applications will be reviewed by date received.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintains and administers data center, ensuring all servers are operating correctly and all software/hardware patches are installed Manages installation, configuration, maintenance, backups and upgrades of physical servers, virtual servers, storage, and networks Maintains and administers the infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP infrastructure, Windows Server Update Services, SQL, VMware, VEEAM Backup, Internet Information Services, Meraki Networking, RingCentral phones and Velocloud Assists with the daily operation of information systems, software installation, configuration and installation of all new personal computer equipment, general computer repair, etc Performs duties associated with set-up, configuration and installation of system software products and peripherals, including printers, monitors, network devices, and other communications equipment Assists with disaster recovery and business continuity plans to deal with catastrophic and cybersecurity events Works closely as part of the city's Information Technology team on the city's strategic, business and operational planning and execution initiatives and activities Assists with the preparation of the technology budget and preparing and presenting recommendations to the Director of Information Technology Keeps informed on the latest developments, standards and trends in public safety technologies and services to make cost-effective recommendations Provides on call technical support and responds to emergency events.
Position is considered Essential Personnel, which will require a response during emergency situations for pre- and post-event activities including, but not limited to, natural and man-made disasters Manages/participates in City Council meeting technology support on a rotating schedule Performs related duties as required and as directed REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Five (5) years paid full-time experience in information technology position Ability to meet CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems) security requirements and certifications within six months of hire
Qualifications:
Eight (8) or more years paid full-time experience in information technology position Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field Industry certifications a plus LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid Driver's License Reliable transportation and liability insurance Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:
