5 Quick Apply Full-time 9 hours ago Full Job Description Job Purpose The phlebotomist shall provide excellent customer service by efficiently collecting specimens and effectively managing information from patients of all ages for the laboratory according to best patient care practices.
The phlebotomist may need to transport samples from time to time and will do so in a safe and timely manner.
Requires appropriate phlebotomy license and a reliable transportation and good driving record.
Duties & Responsibilities oResponsible for accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collectionprocedures with minimum customer discomfort.
oProvides care to patients whose ages range from infant to geriatric.
oEnsures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection,handling, and processing.
Adheres to departmental policies and procedures to include corporateprograms, quality control, quality assurance, and safety.
oUtilize technical skills and abilities to perform accurate venipuncture and capillary bloodcollection.
Utilizes technical skills and abilities to accurately handle and process specimens.
oFollows laboratory procedures for specimen collection and handling.
oCorrectly identifies patient and correctly labels specimens.
oCorrectly identifies and utilizes proper tubes, containers, transport media, and storagetemperature for each test type.
oCorrectly identifies the proper priority for the collection process.
oFollows appropriate guidelines as established by the laboratory for missed draws, recollects, ordifficult sticks.
Utilizes job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality.
oUtilizes resources for proper collection and processing of requested tests.
oUtilizes resources to answer inquiries for test information and basic customer related issues.
oUnderstands and follows all safety, infection control, and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines.
oUnderstands and follows all HIPAA guidelines.
oParticipates in departmental quality assurance programs.
oParticipates in any laboratory training programs.
Effectively utilizes departmental resources.
oDemonstrates efficiency by appropriate performing procedures and determining priority.
oUtilizes appropriate supplies with minimal waste.

Education oHigh School diploma required; one to two years of college preferred.
Experience oThree years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing.
oMus be able to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
