3 Full-time 2 days ago Full Job Description JOB The Utilities Laborer performs general maintenance duties including cleaning, maintenance and repair of sewer lines; maintenance and repair of water/wastewater mains, repairing water leaks, cleaning and changing meters, and clearing service lines.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Performs various manual labor duties to sewer lines or water mainsAssists in setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, lays various pipes for storm or sanitary sewersOperates air and jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairsAssists other crew members in the installation, relocation, or repair of water mains, fire hydrants, water meters, valves, wastewater mains, lateral lines or manholesSetting up and maintaining safety warning devices around job sites to protect the crew and the publicMeasures, cuts, tapes, and threads pipes to make joint connections for installation or repair of water linesAssists in cleaning stoppage on City-maintained wastewater lines; and, digs trenches for laying pipe or making repairs and back fills when job is complete.
Monitors condition of machine, keeps machine filled with beads, cleans filter, removes media waste, and replaces routine partsWashes turbine water meters and rinses in running water; and, receives meters and records their numbers for inventory controlUses a variety of hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, and vehicles to transport equipment to job siteFollows proper safety procedures; flags traffic, sets out barricades, cones, or other safety devicesOperates small to moderately complex forklift, Bobcat, and other specialized equipment to provide daily maintenance to the city's public facilitiesDrives city vehicles with utility trailerPerforms other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Valid Driver's License and personal insurance coverageAppointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:
